October News: Empaths versus Chaos
Happy October!
How are you doing? How was September? I found it to be intense and busy — a true flurry of activity. There was also a heaviness that had been with us since the Lunar Eclipse in August, but I do feel that that is starting to clear up.
On a similar note, I want to talk about something really important these days: empaths.
What’s an empath?
An empath is someone who feels other people’s energies, emotions, and physical sensations inside of themselves — often spontaneously and involuntarily.
Here are some signs that you’re an empath:
- Have you ever started crying when you were near someone who just lost a loved one?
- Have you ever had a headache because you were talking to someone who themselves had a migraine?
- How about walking into a crowded shopping mall and being totally overwhelmed by the amount of energies you got hit with?
If you said yes to these, then chances are good that you’re an empath: You feel others’ energies inside your own body.
And if you’re really sensitive, then you can feel larger spaces like the city you live in, or the impact of major world events such as natural disasters or wars. Some of us call that a “super empath.”
Here are some of my own examples of being a super empath:
- In about 2016, I felt the panic and terror that had been set off by a major earthquake…in the Himalayas.
- In 2017, I was curled in a ball all day feeling explosive rage inside of me…because a warehouse that stored missiles was exploding…in Ukraine.
- And in 2018, I suddenly felt gutted and hopeless…because a certain man was confirmed to the US Supreme Court…and I felt it before I saw the news headlines showing that it had happened.
Sometimes we feel the people near us. And sometimes we feel the rest of the world, too.
Lately, I think a lot of us are feeling the rest of the world.
It is highly chaotic right now, and therefore a hard time to be someone who feels deeply.
Maybe you can’t manage to feel grounded despite your best efforts? Maybe you constantly feel that you’re close to an emotional breakdown? Maybe you feel utterly drained and exhausted even though you’re doing all the right things to take care of yourself?
It’s hard to know where to go anymore where we can find peace. And I don’t mean just calm and quiet, but energetic peace. We are beings of energy, interacting with each other’s energies, and living on a giant ball of energy that happens to be swirling in thousands of different directions. If we ourselves are part of this collective soup, then where do we go to escape it?
