Can you sit with yourself, all alone and quietly, Can you sit with yourself, all alone and quietly, and turn inward to see what's inside of you? If you do that, are you capable of sitting calmly with what you find? For most people, the answer is no. Most people cannot face what's inside of them; what they're carrying around every day, no matter where they go or what they do. Most people are running from that. Whether they work a lot, are chronic volunteers, drink, gamble, or just keep themselves too busy to have time to slow down---they are all running. Running from what's inside of them. How uncomfortable is that??? At some point, you have to stop. Turn inward. Unpack. Face it. Deal with it. Release it. Become free of it. *It feels so good when you're free of it!!* And believe me when I tell you: If you don't do it in *this* life, it will follow you into the next. So invest in yourself. I spent yesterday in class with the Red Cross lear I spent yesterday in class with the Red Cross learning Psychological First Aid. All of my life, I have always wanted to help people. Back in July, I drove past a car accident and saw the affected people sitting on the side of the road waiting for the first responders to arrive. It was a minor fender bender with no bodily injuries. And there were enough people on scene that they didn’t need me. But as I drove away, I realized that I didn’t know how to help. If I stopped, what would I say to the people to help them feel better? What is the *accepted* thing to say or do? That day, I looked for, found, and registered for the course in Psychological First Aid. And yesterday, I completed it. I’m proud to say that I’m now certified in PFA, following the online and in-person modules.
