One goal of the spiritual path is to "love everyone."

That is, to be able to feel love for everyone, including those who have harmed us or who harm others.

And that's a valid goal.

But it does not mean that we also have to want all of these people in our lives, as friends or colleagues or neighbours.

We can love someone, and yet not resonate with their personality, beliefs, or actions.

So don't feel that you have to keep someone close, when your instincts are saying that they just don't fit.

That's okay: We can love them from a distance.
