Gua Sha: Scrape your way to better health

True healing comes when we find and treat the root cause of our problem.  gua sha

One source of illness (whether physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual) is the sub-optimal flow of energy and fluid in our body. Energy and fluid is supposed to flow freely, but it is often slow, blocked, or totally stagnant.

There are many ways to restore optimal flow.  One of them is “Gua sha,” which loosely translates to “scraping the illness,” and is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Gua sha is a simple, do-it-yourself way to maintain and restore your health.  You can even do it while drinking coffee or checking email.  All you need is a spoon, a jar lid, or a thin stone.  And a little information on how to do it.  I have found this book, for example, to be a great, simple resource.

Some things that Gua sha can assist with are: colds and flu, including at their onset; headaches, arthritis, and body pain; depression, anxiety, and insomnia; digestive issues; high blood pressure; and a wide range of discomforts and illnesses.

Have you tried this technique?  What did you think?
