When the new souls don’t fit into the existing structures, we must build new ones

Years ago, a friend told me, “Woz, you have to watch the Justin Bieber movie.” My mouth hung open…seriously, the teen heartthrob’s life story? But this friend was the last person I’d expect to recommend such a film, so I watched it.

And I sobbed!

Because it could be clearly seen that this soul was born ready to inspire. His gifts were not only with him since birth but—importantly—cultivated as he grew.

Now, “Never Say Never” is the movie I watch when I need to be re-inspired; especially when I need to remember that some souls don’t fit into the existing system, and therefore need to create a new platform for success.

Did you know that the music industry initially rejected JB and wanted him to return when he was much older? His manager back then, Scooter, didn’t like that response: “Finally I said let’s just do something.” So they did, and they built a new platform.

Anyway, today is Bieber’s birthday, so he’s trending. I’m so glad I’m at least ten years too old for the heartthrob mania, but hope he one day is able to get free from what society has done to his energy, and return to the pure inspiration that he shares so easily.

The world needs all the light it can get.

If you haven’t seen it yet, I seriously recommend his documentary (actually, both of them). It should still be on Netflix.

Happy 25, JB.
